About Simone Harris, MSW, LICSW,
Founder of Empowered Today Counseling
Simone Harris is a wife, mother, mental health therapist, mentor, program director, and facilitator. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. Simone has always been deeply committed to helping children, families, and adults recognize their strengths and develop healthy coping strategies for life’s challenges. Early in her career, she supported youth and adults who had survived sexual assault and other forms of abuse. Witnessing the profound impact of trauma on mental health fueled her passion for providing meaningful support and healing.
After serving with the DC Government and working as a School Social Worker for several years, Simone launched Youth Empowered Today, a program designed to help individuals discover their strengths, advocate for their needs, and overcome adversity. In 2023, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of opening a private practice in Washington, DC. Today, Simone remains dedicated to helping others build resilience and develop positive coping skills to manage anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.
